What spurred the jump from singing to acting?
I'm a pretty honest guy about it: I looked at my opportunities post-Idol within the music industry, and the opportunities weren't exactly what I was hoping for. For me, it was a big issue not to rush into making an album just to make an album. I wanted it to be perfect. I saw the opportunities over there and decided to pass on them because it wasn't ideal for me at the time. I've always loved to act as just as much as I've loved to sing, [and] I saw that there was some interest within the film and television industry for me to audition for certain roles, and I decided to jump right into that. One of the first roles I got to audition for was playing Morris Hooper in College and about a month later got the phone call that I got the role.
