Playing a future leader is a pretty big responsibility. What did you do to prepare for the role?
When I first went out for [the role], I felt like I kind of already knew who this guy was just because I'd watched Edward Furlong's incarnation of him [in Terminator 2: Judgment Day] so many times. So it was just a mixture of studying up on the groundwork that he had laid and then just adjusting it to the situation that I think the character's in in the series -- which is that he's older and he's matured. I thought that it would be more important to display a heavy dose of intelligence rather than a display of strength or bravado and being the tough soldier. I wanted that to kind of come in later.
