How does it feel to hear your old songs? Do you ever get sick of playing stuff from the past?
I like songs to be like a picture you might take over the course of your life. Our first record came out 10 years ago, and sometimes I look back and go "My God, I was playing that"? The secret to being a good band is that there will be people that want to hear a song that you don't want to play or hear ever again, but you have to base your happiness on their reaction. If you put it out there in the first place, don't whine about it. You're sort of forced and indicted to the song. A lot of songs that I don't have emotional attachment to anymore, I find new life in playing them for people and seeing their emotional reaction.
