There's the cult theme in the lyrics, but you shy away from calling this album a concept record. Why?
It scares me when a band that's on their fourth record is doing a concept record. A concept record is a very scary concept. I don't think that we demand that of our audience. It's not like a rock opera. It's more like, if you choose to pick up the on the subtlety of the string, then fine. But all the songs on the record are different, and there are a lot of different emotions. If I called it a concept album, I feel like it would take some of the emotionality away, which is what I wanted to develop with this record. The same way rock music is sort of defined by having a guitar or a backbeat, for this record, the delivery of the lyrics is different. I feel like this record needs the glue of a theme to exist.
