How is this album different from your past albums?
For me as a songwriter, every record or every song is just an interpretation of what's going on in my life. Our very first record that came out in 1998 was about what 17- and 18-year-olds experience and go through at that age. My view of the world has definitely changed. As far as musically for this record, we discovered a really nice take on really, really loud and really soft, as far the dynamic of the songs are concerned. One song doesn't have to be all soft -- there can also be a brash, blaring loudness. I think that makes the songs a lot more exciting on this record. Lyrically, there's a thematic string, which is based on my study of cult music over the past three years.
