Why do you think dance movies and shows are so popular?
Dancing is such a beautiful way to express yourself, and I think everybody has some type of movement in them. When you put human movement with the sound of music and emotion, it's beautiful. You can hate to dance, but when you see a beautiful dance, you feel some type of way. What makes the show cool is that the fans are able to see us in such a vulnerable position and see us grow. They want to see the progress -- where you're going to start and where you're going to finish. There's nothing fake about it. The voting is real -- trust me. When I was on stage the other night during elimination, I was like "This is not what I signed up for." It's real, and that's what people are attached to.

Did you watch previous seasons?
Slightly. I caught a couple of episodes, but not much. Only when Emmett Smith was on and when Laila Ali was on. But nothing compared to actually being on the show.
