Do you think that happens because you have a harder sound, like people try to make you seem dark and depressing?
Yeah, I think so. And I think because our music is our therapy and I take writing more seriously than the music sometimes. Because that's what I love to do -- I love to write. For some bands, writing lyrics is just a side note, but it's actually what I take a little bit more seriously. I write based on how I feel, things I've wanted to say. Like I said -- it's my therapy. So there are gonna be darker thoughts in there. It's just a way for me to let it all out.

Are all your lyrics based on your own experiences?
Yeah, they're all based on life experiences. A lot of them are actually a little more on the fence. They're mostly metaphorically speaking or analytically speaking. But they're all me. I'm always the first to say it's about me. I'm the first to say I'm not a perfect person. I never plan on being one.
