What was the process for recording the album?
It was brutal and insane because I didn't really have much time to record it. Right after I won, I came out to New York to do press, went right back to L.A. to rehearse for the tour, and then went on the tour. We were doing five shows a week, [and] I was doing eight songs a night, so that was pretty crazy. On days off when I was supposed to be resting and recovering, I was recording music. I got five songs recorded throughout the summer. And then September 23 through the beginning of October was basically the amount of time I had to get the rest of the album finished, so it was pretty harsh. [I was] in the studio 24/7, but it was a blast and I learned a lot. I can totally tell how people can love being in the studio because you start out with nothing, but at the end of the day, you have this amazing product.
