What's it like to be "the hot guy" on About A Girl?
It honestly feels weird to me. I grew up on a farm in a really small community [and] I wasn't that guy. I was the kid that got picked on, got beat up. It's weird to go read for ["the hot guy"]. I always think other people in Hollywood play those characters, people who girls I know would be like, "Oh yeah, that guy's hot."

When did it change from being the guy who got picked on to girls thinking you're hot?
It was around grade 11. It was just a self-confidence thing at that point. I did go through a stage where I really cared about what other people thought about me and whether they were my friends. Eventually, I started to figure it out. I also got a little bigger -- that helped. I just became more comfortable with who I was. I'm still a nerd to this day, but I got to a point where I was able to select whose opinion I keep close to my heart and whose opinions I kept outside of it.
