Did you write the music and lyrics for the entire album?
I collaborated on a lot of the music, but I did write the lyrics. This is the most personal thing I've ever done. Films have only been so much of who I am. I've been able to play different characters in different time periods, but this is completely me, completely honest. I want to stand for a woman who's strong and beautiful in a different way, who's vulnerable and feminine, and still very intelligent and very sure of herself.

What about your operatic training has helped you in the industry?
More than anything, it's about work ethic -- always respecting people that you work with and feeling lucky to be where you are. When I was seven and entered the opera, [the kids were] expected to perform like adults. It was a great learning experience to be onstage with some of the great classical masters at such a young age, and to know that you can do great work and have fun at the same time and still be professional and responsible.
