Try to think of a band from South Dakota. Not so easy, is it? OK, The Mount Rushmore State may not be known for rockin' out, but it can claim one pretty sweet band: The Spill Canvas. Fronted by vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Nick Thomas (who originally played as a solo act under the band name a la Dashboard Confessional), TSC was named one of Alternative Press' "Bands To Watch in 2007," and with the release of their third album, No Really, I'm Fine, it's clear why -- the band's pop-rock sound, mixed Nick's aching vocals and honest lyrics, makes for a must-hear. Check what Nick, er, spilled to us in this interview!

How does being in band compare to playing solo?
It's cool. It's definitely a different feeling. You have more of a democracy [with a band] because you respect the other musicians and want their input. Nowadays, I'll come with an idea or I'll have some lyrics and a melody, and we'll all flesh it out. It's definitely cooler to have other people on the inside with you.
