How are you like and unlike her?
In the heart of Lux lies a 16-year-old -- [she has] normal issues, like boys and parents and decisions that are hard to make when you're that age. And I still deal with the same things right now so I'm able to draw from my personal life in that respect. But she's had a lot more life experience that I have so as far as that goes, it's harder to draw from.

Did you speak to anyone in the foster care system to prepare for the role?
I started speaking with a lot of bloggers and I worked with the Casey Family Program in Pasadena who teach people aged 16-25 how to get emancipated and get out of the system, so that was pretty helpful. And also, the creator of the show, Liz, was adopted at a young age so I was able to look to her, too.
