What was your first reaction when you first read the script?
I was very excited by it! I read it again. It was such an unusual script. I had so many ideas. I went with the ride of reading it -- all of these visual references that are potentially amazing when you read them on the page but it takes a real imagination on the reader's behalf to envision what that could be. And all the philosophical ideas of the devil -- good choices in life, dreaming, imagination -- are all kind of mystical and eastern philosophical ideas that I've always been interested in.
