What about this role first attracted you?
I was planning on taking a break when my agent sent me this script. I'd seen 8 1/2 before (the Fellini film) -- I hadn't seen the play. I looked it up online and watched the performances and heard the song and then went back and watched 8 1/2 again. I was the last one cast so I knew the ensemble that was already in play, and Rob [Marshall] was directing and I'm a huge fan of his work -- Chicago and Memoirs of a Geisha. I heard the song and was like, "This is one of those songs where you can belt it all out and have fun with it, and this is a fun character." I've heard actors speak about when they read a script and they know they've got to do it, and it just clicked inside of me and I wanted it really badly.
