What was your first impression of your co-stars/director Drew Barrymore?
Drew was hilarious. I was in what felt like the waiting room when you go to the doctor. This was when I was gonna do a chemistry read in person in front of all those people. And then she comes in -- the environment up until this point is kind of sterile and a little quiet. She comes in like a tornado: ripped jeans, she has an ice pack on her knee, no shoes on; she's just storming in with her iced tea in her hand and probably under the throes of her directorial debut, and she was hilarious. I don't know if she works hard at it or not, but she creates no boundaries in between someone of her status and anyone else. She is a very disarming person right when she walks in the room. She gave me a big hug after the audition and I had just met her that day. I'm more of a handshake guy until further notice and she's good at making everyone feel comfortable. She's like a lovable puppy dog, I think.
