Get Your Hands Off Of Me!!

Last Monday night was the last night of our tour with The Used. It was a bittersweet night, because on one hand we got to go home for the first time in a couple of months, but on the other hand, we had to say goodbye to our new friends The Used -- who, by the way, are four of the coolest dudes you will ever meet!

And the show itself was pretty rocking, the crowd was great, and it actually may have been the best show of the tour. But halfway through our last song, "Perfect," I ran into a little problem with the security guards...

So, during the bridge of that song, we've been extending it a bit and doing an instrumental section, which features Brad playing a sweet solo. That night, I was inspired to give a little speech to the crowd, and then I threw down my guitar and dove into the crowd. Thee barricades were about 5 or 6 feet from the stage, so I took a running start and dove! The people in the crowd caught all 135 lbs. of me and started passing me forward, and that's when the problem began.

The security guards grabbed me as I was coming over the barricade. I thought they were trying to help me, so I attempted to stand up, but before I could realize what was happening they were tackling me, yelling obscenities at me and saying "Are you stupid?" "What's wrong with you?" etc. I thought a little crowd interaction was pretty standard, but I guess not!! In the process of all of this, they slammed me into the stage, where my shoulder hit the corner. It didn't hurt at the time, but now, a few days later, it still hurts like hell!!! Anyway, it all happened so fast and I was thinking, "I need to get back on stage!" So, I turned around and tried to climb back up onto the stage. But these security guards grabbed me and wouldn't let me go back on stage. They were like, "No way man, you're outta here." But I was determined to finish the song, so I broke free and ran to the far end of the stage, looking for a way to get back up. There was no door to the backstage, so I jumped up onto the stage, climbed onto the speakers and then jumped back down to where the rest of the band was still rocking! Hahaha! I grabbed my guitar and we finished the song.

I still don't know why I was tackled by the security guards at my own show, but afterwards Bert from The Used told me that something similar happened to Kurt Cobain once, so I checked it out on YouTube! Take a look… Crazy, right?!

OK guys, well, take it easy and stay safe! And I will take some more Tylenol for my shoulder!! Lates!

xoxo,

Vince
