Bids Don't Lie
Weird news of the week: some Shakira fan paid $3,051 for the multi-colored beaded and sequined bra that the singer wore during her 2007 Oral Fixation World Tour. ("Underneath Your Clothes" is right!) But despite the weirdness, at least the money is going to a good cause -- her Fundacion Pies Descalzos (translation: Bare Feet Foundation), which is building a school for impoverished children in northern Colombia. "It was a phenomenal success," Eric Gazin, president of Auction Cause tells the New York Daily News. "We had bidders from 10 countries." Other items sold include the chance to meet Shakira and sit in the front row at a March 1 concert in Toronto ($14,100), the purple wig and guitar from her "Las de la Intuicion" video ($3,301.50), and the tank top she wore during Live Earth ($2,425). All these items, we might add, are a lot less creepy that the bra, but we digress. And although some of the items weren't even sold, the auction raised $76,000. Wowza!
