Ganging up on Glee

Certain Glee-haters are up in arms over Wednesday's episode focusing around Kevin McHale's character Artie. Even though Kevin plays a character who fights to gain respect and compassion from his fellow able-bodied Glee members, those in the entertainment industry with disabilities don't think it's enough. They can't get past the fact that Kevin is playing someone in a wheelchair, when they could have cast someone who is actually in one for the role. "I think there's a fear of litigation, that a person with disabilities might slow a production down, fear that viewers might be uncomfortable," says Robert David Hall from CSI, according to the AP. But perhaps those upset over the eppie didn't watch it all the way through? Sue Sylvester makes a character-changing decision to add a new Cheerio to the bunch and she happens to be disabled. She also visits her older sister, played by another actor with disabilities. So maybe Glee isn't so discriminatory, after all?
