Indiana Princess

Today we played Indianapolis, Indiana. I remember playing this venue last year because there is a long rocky pathway that circles this really dumpy looking lake. There is a sign written with a sort of rushed hand which reads, "Absolutely NO trespassing, fishing, or swimming!" in bright red paint. Of course, three dudes from Warped were jovially casting out their fishing lines while enjoying catering sandwiches on the rickety wooden platform next to the lake. What do they expect?

My tour manager and band left the bus early to catch The Rocket Summer's set. We watched Bryce dance and sing with a frenzy from back stage. His wife usually shoots confetti during one of their songs near the end of the set. From my corner of the stage, I accidentally tripped over the confetti shooter device and confetti spilled all around the soundboard. I apologetically glanced up as Tera smiled, amused at my clumsiness. We quickly stuffed the colored pieces of shiny paper back into the plastic tube just in time.

I went to catering and helped Hannah set up the merch tent. I love surprising her by setting it up in the morning while she's on her way back to the trailer to get extra t-shirts. She works so hard for us and is out in the sun all day. It's the least I could do to make her job a bit easier.

Around one in the afternoon the sun and the heat were beginning to get to me. I made a final trip back to the bus, staggered up the steps, swung aside the curtain and flung myself onto a front lounge seat. Dia, quietly reading Atlas Shrugged, took a break from what seemed to be a very interesting read to inquire, "Where have you been?" Everywhere, I thought to myself. I don't know why I keep getting off this air-conditioned bus.

The rest of the day carried on as usual. We had press. There were two interviewers this time. Dia took hold of the reins during both of them since Nick, our other prize conversationalist, had a pounding headache, and I was too exhausted to speak much.

We closed out the show on our stage. Thankfully, a lot of people stayed late to watch us. My favorite part of the day happened at night this time. I waited for hours for this half-hour and I enjoyed it immensely.
