Getting The Kinks Out

The next day, it was off to Glastonbury for the second time this year…arrived at about 3 o'clock, and it was straight to sound check. Then I had the rest of the day to myself -- the site was really cool, surrounded by fields and trees with a huge big pond backstage. After I had a wander, it was straight to catering where I got brilliant pork roast with applesauce, gravy, and roast potatoes...the lot!

I enjoyed playing the set…everybody seemed to be listening, and it was good seeing everyone chilling out on the grass having a good time. I thought I'd do a bit of the same and went out front hoping to sit and watch Ray Davies, but turns out the fans in Glastonbury are a bit enthusiastic, and I had to get dragged backstage by some burly security guards -- that's never really happened before. Couldn't stop laughing, it was mad! Watched the rest of the set from the side of the stage. I was hoping he'd play a few Kinks tunes, and he ended up playing loads all the classics. "Days," though, what a tune!

After the gig, our driver managed to lock us out the bus which was a bit of a scary moment but in the end everything worked out fine…when I say fine, I mean we arrived at the airport in time for our 7 a.m. flight. The 6 a.m. check-in wasn't too "fine" at the time, I can tell you! Anyhow, V Festival next weekend -- if all goes as planned, should be good. It was fun last year.
