Casino Not-So Royale

Last Friday, we all flew out to Atlantic City to play a gig in a casino. I was really looking forward to it, but in some ways, it was a bit of a disappointment. The gig itself went OK -- the fans in Atlantic City were really up for it, and everybody was singing along. But after the show, I had to go straight up to my room because I've not turned 21 yet and was warned I'd get a hefty fine if I were found downstairs in the casino or bar. I didn't really want to risk it as I'd just played to half the people in the casino, and they all knew my face, so it was a quiet one for me I'm afraid whilst the band got sucked into blackjack and poker!

We were back on the road early the next morning to travel to V festival. It was bloody warm...nearly 39 degrees! As usual, I didn't get to see much of it as I was doing promo for most of the afternoon. I did manage to sneak away for a bit before the set and had a go on that Guitar Hero game. I couldn't put it down! Definitely getting one of those for the bus to pass the time! Didn't even get to see any bands after we played as after a swift signing session we went straight to the airport to catch our flight back to Chicago for Lollapalooza.

Didn't have as much promo the next day, so I actually managed to see a few bands! Rodrigo Y Gabriella were on top form as always. Amy Winehouse's band was amazing -- I'm looking forward to the tour with her. Hoping I might be able to persuade a couple of them to come on an try a couple of covers with me. "Wanna Be Like You" would sound good with a trumpet player instead of me doing my usual trumpet impression! I saw the end of the Kings of Leon after our set -- the side of the stage was mobbed so I had to get my manager Luba to use his powers of persuasion to get me up. It was well worth it though, as their new single's really good live. Before Pearl Jam, I managed to bag myself a whole load of new load of clothes from backstage. I got jeans, trainers, t-shirts, shades, hundreds of stuff.....typical Paisley boy, me! I saw Lance Armstrong backstage with some friends. My girlfriend always goes on about him, so that was pretty cool! We've got a couple of days off now to get over the jetlag before doing a couple more festivals and a show with Ray Davies at Glastonbury Abbey -- that'll be a good gig!
