Hi all --
Welcome to my Alloy blog! I'm excited to write for you guys and keep you posted on what I'm up to. In case you don't know me well, here's a little introduction to who I am:
I was born and raised in Nanimo on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. My Dad is an engineer and my Mom is an artist. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to act in movies. I put that dream on hold while studying commerce at the University of British Columbia for a short time until I couldn’t ignore it anymore. Acting is a passion, and I knew I had to give it a shot.
I was fortunate enough to land small roles in television and film early in my career, but my big break came from Steven Spielberg, who cast me in War of the Worlds. That was an amazing, incredible, overwhelming (running out of adjectives here) experience to work on such a HUGE film, and I learned a lot working with the accomplished cast. I was so blown away by Dakota Fanning (who played my sister) -- literally, I would be standing off to the side watching her prepare and thinking, "how does she do it?" Learning from Spielberg, the master himself, allowed me to grow as an actor and helped me prepare for even more challenging roles to come like The Invisible. But more on that later…
