Getting The Kinks Out

Last weekend I did two festival shows…the Ripcurl Unleashed festival in Newquay and another one at Glastonbury Abbey opening for Ray Davies. I was headlining one night and opening for Ray Davies the next -- happy days! Ripcurl was on Saturday -- the whole line-up was pretty cool, and there was a really relaxed vibe backstage…all the dressing rooms were next to each other with big comfy cushions to sit outside in the sun, play a bit of guitar -- heaven! Didn't have much promo on at all, so got to see a good number of bands…Ruarri Joseph, Scott Mathews, and Newton Falkner were brilliant. We had Newton support us on a couple of shows last year, and he blew me away -- that guy can play guitar, man! Also managed to persuade Ruarri and Newton to come on and play "I Wanna Be Like You" in the encore, and that went down really well!

Paolo got mobbed by fans in Glastonbury! Get the scoop.

Casino Not-So Royale

Last Friday, we all flew out to Atlantic City to play a gig in a casino. I was really looking forward to it, but in some ways, it was a bit of a disappointment. The gig itself went OK -- the fans in Atlantic City were really up for it, and everybody was singing along. But after the show, I had to go straight up to my room because I've not turned 21 yet and was warned I'd get a hefty fine if I were found downstairs in the casino or bar. I didn't really want to risk it as I'd just played to half the people in the casino, and they all knew my face, so it was a quiet one for me I'm afraid whilst the band got sucked into blackjack and poker!

Awww! Well, at least Paolo went to some rockin' shows. Hear about 'em now!

Lollygagging Before Lollapalooza

Hey --

I came back from my holiday on Wednesday and another early call as soon as I got into Chicago. Me, the band, and the crew had to be up in time for a 5:45 call on WGN Morning News to play "Last Request." But on the bright side we were supplied with a lovely greasy breakfast, so I didn't moan too much! The only good thing about such a painfully early call time is we usually get to finish up quickly giving me the day to myself to have a look around and relax a bit.

Lollapalooza, here he comes! Get the lowdown on Paolo's performance.

Prince Paolo

Hey --

I've had a really chilled one this week. The only thing I've had was a festival at Carcasonne in the south of France! I arrived at about two in the afternoon -- the weather was unbelievable. My family was there as well, so before sound check, I had some time to slip away for a bite to eat. The festival itself is held in an outdoor amphitheater in the grounds of a castle with the rest of the town built around it, it was like a medieval village...even our dressing room was built in a spire! The band and I climbed the stairs to the top and had a few beers before the gig to take advantage of the sun and views....

So how did the show go? Find out!

Weddings, Parties, Anything

Hey --

The band and me were at the ICA in London for an iTunes gig on Saturday. (They're doing a different show each day for the whole of July.) It was good getting to do a more intimate gig for a change -- particularly in London. Ghosts were supporting -- didn't get a chance to go out and watch because I had a couple of interviews while they were on, but they supported us the last time we were playing in London at Brixton Academy a couple of months ago -- all nice guys.

Who showed up at Paolo's gig? Find out!
