2003 MTV Video Music Awards

The smooch seen 'round the world! At the 2003 VMAs, Madonna shocked audiences once again by giving a show stopping performance of "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood," which she followed up by sharing open-mouth kisses with both Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. The VMA shocker thrust Madonna back in the spotlight after what was her most unsuccessful studio album, American Life. ("American Life" only hit 37 on the charts, and "Hollywood" didn't even make the Hot 100, a first for Madonna in 20 years.) That fall, she collaborated with Britney again -- this time, without the making out -- when she sang on Brit's track, "Me Against the Music."
