Selma Hayek

The Ugly Betty star has been super vocal about ending domestic violence in this country and around the world. Selma worked with Avon to launch the Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program, which includes free educational material, training programs, fundraising activities and public service announcements. About the problem, Selma said:

"It's a cycle that has been going on for many, many generations. It's a world problem and goes way deeper than your neighbors…We don't talk about this. Imagine the environment that kids grow up in America where one out of every three women have been a victim of domestic violence. The percentages of the girls between 15 and 17 that have already experienced [violence] with a boyfriend is huge, but they never talk about it."

She went on to say: "I don't come from a family with domestic violence. I've never experienced it myself. But I'm very, very passionate about it."
