Angelina Jolie
Angelina wasn't always so activist minded. She said she first became aware of true poverty when filming Tomb Raider in Cambodia years ago. Since then, she has been to refugee camps in Sierra Leone, Namibia, and Pakistan, bringing attention and aid to the countries. In 2001, she was named a Goodwill Ambassador to the U.N. Refugee Commission and has lobbied on behalf of children's rights, saying:
"No child left behind means no child left behind. And that isn't [just] with what we feel we can give right now, but with whatever it takes. Britain gives three times more than us right now. They are not richer than us. So I don't know what the great excuse is."
Angelina has gone beyond practicing what she preaches by bringing adoption into the limelight and bringing more children into her home. Angelina just added to her multi-cultural family by adopting a Vietnamese boy.
