Kaiser Chiefs
What is it about British New Wave rock bands that make us love them so much? Amongst our faves is Kaiser Chiefs, whose 2005 album, Employment drew rave reviews from Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, Blender, and pretty much every other cool music mag. Rowdy pop anthem, "I Predict A Riot," became a signature hit, while "Na Na Na Na Naa" earned a spot on Music from The O.C.: Mix 5. (It was played on the show in season two when Summer sees Seth in a whipped cream-laden dance contest on Spring Break, so she starts making out with Zach.) In 2006, they scored Brit Awards for Best British Rock Act, Best British Live Act, and Best British Group, and an NME Award for Best Album. (Pretty impressive, eh?)
On the eve of their sophomore release, Your Truly, Angry Mob, we picked the brain of the band's hottie curly-haired bassist, Simon Rix (although we forgot to ask for styling tips). Read on for deets, then watch the video for first single, "Ruby."
Since the first album did so phenomenally well, are you guys confident that this album is just as great as Employment?
We're pretty confident. Occasionally, you get quite nervous about it because you're human. Is this done right? Does that sound good enough? Everyone self doubts occasionally.
