When we met Travis McCoy at the 2006 Video Music Awards, we were blown away at how freakin' cool he was. And months later, when we got to interview him again, he still made us laugh hardcore. But what's more, Travis and the rest of the Gym Class Heroes bring their earnest energy and quirky attitude to alternative hip-hop. For instance, they play their instruments live instead of relying on prerecorded beats. (What a concept!) Unlike so many bands, these guys actually deserve all the attention that MTV's been throwing their way lately. Don't be As Cruel As School Children -- check out Travie's answers.

What's the story behind your band name?
Me and Matt met in gym class. We'd just sit in the bleachers and poke fun at all the kids who'd get all sweaty and take it serious. We called them "gym class heroes."

Milli Vanilli, and it was amazing.

What's the last song you listened to?
"Riding High" by Faze-0.

What's your favorite music-related movie?
Juice.

What's your guilty pleasure song?
"Unbreak My Heart" by Toni Braxton.

Who are you dying to do a duet with?
Lily Allen.

What are your must-haves backstage at a show?
Uncrustables grilled cheese sandwiches and a Vicks vaporizer.

If you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Bleed American by Jimmy Eat World.

Pick any random lyric from your latest album, and tell us what it means.
"Blow the dust off this record and put the needle down slow/Our veins are cold but we'll never grow old." It's basically saying that our music is timeless.

Daryl Hall.
