Jennifer Hudson
Hey all,
Filming Dreamgirls was like a dream come true. I always wanted the opportunity to display my gifts and share my music with people. American Idol wasn't for me, but I always believed that something good was in store. I auditioned three different times over a six-month period for the role of "Effie." I was the last person cast and they had already started working on the movie. I came in with no acting experience.
That first day, I was nervous that the other actors wouldn't accept me, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. They were all the most supportive, encouraging people. Beyoncé is a goddess, Jamie is an amazing brother figure -- everyone was so beautiful to me. I just watched, and learned, and tried to soak it all it. Eddie Murphy saying hello to me? Yeah right! Singing in a group with Beyoncé? Crazy! It was all so magical. I had the time of my life making Dreamgirls and I just hope people enjoy all our hard work.
