Alloy: The big question on everybody's minds is, why did you decide to start a solo music career now?
Pharrell: I don't know. I never really looked at [In My Mind] as a solo album. I always looked at it just like a diary excerpt from my life. It's kinda like my record version of MTV Diary -- what I think and what I feel. It's a collective piece of art for me, a great piece of work. It's cool; it's boutique. And it was fun for me because it's basically for my fans -- it's not meant for the masses.
