When you signed up, did you ever think you'd be a finalist?
No. As a matter of fact, this has totally changed my plans for the way I expected things to happen. The idea was to get my CD done and then think about putting together a live show, so this has kind of jumped a whole step that I expected I'd have a couple months to work on!

You've never performed live before?!
No, this is it. I sang a serenade to my wife at our wedding in 2003, and I think I serenaded her one other time, and that was it.

Who are your musical inspirations?
Probably my greatest music inspiration would be John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, his album To Record Only Water For 10 Days. He's done stuff on his own, but that's something he did completely on his own -- mixed it and everything. That was kind of my inspiration. I wanted to do something that no one else touched, and my CD's available now. It's 10 songs, and I recorded it, mixed it -- did it all by myself.
