"We wanted to make music that was very technical, that wasn't just party music, but at the same time you could dance to it," Yannis Philippakis, frontman of buzz band Foals, tells MTV UK. The quintet, which NME predicted "will define the year," has been quite successful in this quest -- their dance rock tunes are reminiscent of fellow Brit band Bloc Party merged with the quirky, art rock sound of New York band Battles. Fun fact: the band's name refers to Yannis' last name, which means "little lover of horses" in Greek.
