In case you didn't know, The Rocket Summer isn't a "band" -- it's actually a guy: Bryce Avery, a 24-year-old musical prodigy who had his first album out at age 16. But this blond-haired cutie makes better music on his own than some five-piece bands! Meet Bryce now!
Why did you decide to go with a name for the "band" if you're a solo artist?
I put I out my first CD when I was 16 years old. I was just gonna have it be [under] my own name, and a friend of mine was like, "You should name it something. That'd be cooler." He was reading a book called The Martian Chronicles, and there's a chapter called "The Rocket Summer." He was just like, "You should name it 'The Rocker Summer.'" I thought that was a good idea.
And do you still like the name eight years later?
Yeah, I still love the name. Thank God I didn't name it something stupid. Otherwise, there would've been some trouble.
