You've been on Degrassi for a while, but as a secondary character. How did it feel to join the main cast? People might [think] it happened all at once, but to me, it came very gradually. I auditioned pretty seriously for the roles of Paige and Ashley six years ago, right from the get go. I was in the room with Lauren and Melissa [McIntyre]. We were like, "Oh, so it痴 gonna be two of us. Who is it gonna be?" And unfortunately, it wasn稚 me. For a while, I stopped going on [TV] auditions because I was so upset, and I did theatre instead. Finally, I got a call, three years later and they said, "We have role for you -- Alex." And it just sort of grew from there.
How are you like Alex in real life? I知 like Alex in the way that I知 very independent and Alex is very independent. She figures things out by herself, and she takes things in her own hands. In that way, I知 very much like Alex. I do have a close group of people I can rely on when I知 going through something, but I知 not as dependent on that as most people might be.
