They had their ups and downs, their ins and outs, but now Katy Perry and Travis McCoy are officially dunzo after breaking up right before New Year's. The couple had been vacationing in Mexico over the holidays, but the sun and sand must not have been enough to save their relationship. "It's a hardship, but she's regrouping," a source tells Celebuzz. It sure seemed that way as Katy performed at the Gridlock New Year's Eve party on the Paramount Lot! "She was in a great mood," says a guest at the party. "Nothing seemed out of the ordinary."

But readers of Travis's blog got a different idea of how the breakup was playing out. He quoted Main Source's "Looking at the Front Door," saying "We fight every night, now that's not kosher/I reminisce with bliss of when we was closer/And wake up to be greeted by an argument again/You act like you're ten." He also named the newest object of his affection, "My Laptop… LOYAL. LISTENS. and NEVER LETS ME DOWN." Harsh, Travis! Here's to a 2009 with far less drama…
