Despite being arrested for driving under the influence, Shia LaBeouf was not "at fault" for his car crash on Sunday morning. "The other car ran a red light and, if not already, they will be cited," LA Sherriff's spokesman tells Us Weekly. "They will now be listed as Party One on the report, indicating they were at fault." But that doesn't take anything away from Shia's DUI -- he'll still need to attend a court date in August.
Drinking and driving is probably one of the most irresponsible things you can do. But according to Brian Perrulli, an alleged eyewitness to the crash, Shia acted maturely after the crash, even when the other driver from the accident offered to let Shia flee the scene. "Shia was tending to the other people in the car, signing over information, like insurance and stuff, and basically, I overheard the guy tell him, 'You should just get out of here and go,' and Shia said, 'Nah, man. I gotta deal with this. My license plate, it's my car. I don't wanna go; I gotta deal with this,'" he tells MTV. "The guy Shia hit told him, 'You should get outta here,' and he said, 'I never saw you,' and Shia said, 'No, man, I gotta stay here and deal with this. It's my problem.'"
Now mending his hand in the hospital, Shia is reportedly remorseful for what went down. "Shia is very, very contrite at this point," a source close to Shia tells MSNBC. "But it's easy to want to make changes now, while it [the accident] is still fresh. The danger is that he knows he's indispensable at this point -- it's not like he's going to get dropped from the film. Hopefully he really does make the changes he needs to make."
