Yikes! The Writers Guild of America is officially on strike! So get ready for an increase in reality TV, kids, 'cause they're about the only shows on TV that don't use the nearly 12,000 writers who have begun picketing over royalties issues.
So what does that mean for your fave shows? Well, the first programs to be affected will be the late night shows, like Letterman, Leno, and The Daily Show, which won't have scripts today. Then, come Saturday, SNL will be out, and guest musician, Amy Winehouse will be out of luck for her debut on the show. Around January, Gossip Girl, Ugly Betty, and other scripted primetime shows will be replaced with reality shows galore as their stockpile of eppies goes dry. OK, so that's a worst-case scenario, but the past gives a gloomy outlook -- the WGA strike of 1988 lasted 22 weeks!
We'll keep you updated -- our fave nightly routine depends on it!
