OK, so here's the deal:
Britney Spears may appear on this Sunday's Emmy Awards, but not to perform. Instead, Britney would apologize for her God-forsaken performance at last week's VMAs.

The Emmy producers are "in negotiations" with Britney and "she’s weighing the offer," an Emmys source tells Us Weekly, but nothing's confirmed. "I can’t say this is 100 percent not true," a Brit-Brit insider says. "All I can say is that the Emmy people aren’t dealing with her record company, her manager or her agents at William Morris. So if she is doing anything for the Emmys, then it’s not going through the official channels."
