Brit Goes Bust in Vegas

Britney, Britney, Britney -- what the heck was up with your VMA performance last night?! Grabbing your boobs and gyrating on some dude does not equal a quality performance, especially when you don't even lip sync properly! Her outfit didn't fit, her hair looked a mess (she fired her hairstylist before taking the stage, a VMA insider tells Us Weekly), and her performance was so unenthusiastic that we wonder if she even realized she was being watched. Basically, Britney looked like she was the losing act in a high school talent show. (She should've looked to Alicia Keys for how to do a comeback performance 'cause she totally rocked it!) No wonder she reportedly burst into tears shortly afterward, "crying badly [backstage]," according to a source for Us Weekly. "She's devastated. She was really nervous and knows she screwed up." Sigh, and we had such high hopes…

But enough about Brit. Here's what else stood out at this year's VMAs:

Misses:
-- Shia LaBeouf's 'stache. Ewww! (We do love that when MTV VJ, Sway asked Rihanna if she walked the red carpet with Shia, she didn't deny their relationship but said she walks the red carpet solo.)
-- Sarah Silverman's stand-up performance. We heart you, Sarah, but you've gotta learn the line between appropriate and asinine.
-- Mary J. Blige calling 50 Cent 50 Cents. Hahaha!

Hits:
-- Rihanna singing "Shut Up & Drive" up in Fall Out Boy's suite. An unlikely combo, but they totally worked.
-- Gym Class Heroes winning Best New Artist. Well deserved. Yay for Decaydance. -- Justin Timberlake dissing MTV reality shows as he picked up the award for Male Artist of the Year, right in front of The Hills girls. Ouch!
-- Chris Brown's performance. Man, that boy can dance! (Check the video below.)
