Well, it looks like Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams could quit each other. The couple, who met on the set of Brokeback Mountain a few years back, "quietly and amicably split" a few weeks ago. "The relationship had been rocky recently. They tried very hard to make it work but finally decided to separate. They just grew apart," an insider tells Us Weekly. "They have a beautiful daughter and they are both committed to being great parents."

The breakup couldn't come at a more awkward time for Heath, who was at the Venice Film Festival this past weekend, promoting his new film, I'm Not There. "Heath clearly had a lot going on in his head. Sometimes he was just staring off to the side, clearly in his own world,” a spy tells the mag. "He kept his head down a lot and I think he was hoping not to be asked too much. He had his hat tipped a little low and didn't really make eye contact with anyone. You could tell that he didn't want to be there." Luckily, the press obeyed the request of only asking questions about the movie. Sigh -- and we really liked them together!
