Hot Album Alert!

Timbaland has produced chart-topping tunes for some of the hottest artists out there: Nelly Furtado, Missy Elliott, Destiny’s Child, Jay-Z, and, of course, Justin Timberlake. But now, Tim's second solo album, Timbaland Presents Shock Value is on the way (psst -- it drops Tuesday, April 3), and he's gathered all his famous friends to help. Like who? Jay-Z, Fall Out Boy, The Hives, She Wants Revenge, Snoop Dogg, Elton John, M.I.A., and newcomer, Keri Hilson. And first single, "Give It To Me," features Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. (Yeah, you know, no one big or anything.)

Timbaland gave Alloy some exclusive info about his new album and, of course, his time with Justin -- and we're here to share it with you!

What made you do a solo album?
Actually, Justin’s the one that said, “You need to do something for yourself.“ I was like, “Yah, you're right, “ and that’s what I’m doing. You know, I’ve never had this much attention before. I’ve never been the most anticipated person to come out with an album before.”

Who's your personal inspiration?
I have no inspiration. I don’t look up to nobody -- I just like the music. I can’t say, "Man, he inspires me." I get inspired by life: walking outside and seeing events happen -- that can inspire me to do something. A song [can inspire me,] but that don’t mean the artist inspires me -- I mean, I like all artists, but [I'm] not that intrigued.

Do you typically love everything you produce?
When I’m in the studio, it’s very rare that I don’t like something 'cause I like everything. Wait no, I take that back -- everything I do [that] I do not like, I’ll erase it quick. With [other] artist's albums, they’ll be like, “What are you doing? That sounded good," and I’ll be like, "I don’t like." Justin stopped me a couple times -- he was like, "Don’t erase, don’t erase it!" and I’d be like, "OK, OK." On [his track,] "Summer Love," he had a hard time writing it -- he was like, "Let's scratch this record." I was like, "Nope -- I’m going to fix this for you." I started doing the melody and going through it, and finally he was like, "I got it," and then he wrote [the rest] right then. It’s very good to have to four or five heads to tell you what they feel before you go off on your feelings.
