There aren't too many celebs that I get super stoked to see (it's part of the job), but I was totally psyched to meet Drew Barrymore last night at the Music & Lyrics premiere. (I've been a huge fan of hers since I was 5 years old!) She looked totally gorgeous her white Donna Karen dress, but one of the first things I noticed was how she looked perfectly svelte. (She says it's because she eats right and runs, but we all know that breaking up with your BF easily sheds the pounds.)
If you were ever wondering if Drew's like the sweet and bubby characters she always plays, I'm here to tell you that she is -- but to tell you the truth, she's just like you and me. When she thought no one was listening (but of course we were), Drew 'fessed up to the director's daughter, "I screwed up my grammar 15 times today -- I can't talk!"
And newcomer Haley Bennett, who plays an up-and-coming teen pop star, looked the part in a sparkling red mini-dress and black tights. And even though she's an actress coming off a huge movie, she's still got her teen angst. "I could not make myself look like this," she said about her make-up. "I don't feel beautiful all the time, but they really make me feel pretty. Getting compliments from people [makes me feel beautiful]." Cute!
And of course, I got the inside scoop from Hugh Grant, who is positively hilarious. "I kept making [Drew] cry," he said about his onset relationship with Drew. "I get quite tense, and she's such a happy, upbeat person, so I think there were a couple of times where I brought her down and I felt quite guilty." He even dished about onscreen kisses! "Those things are very awkward. It's all about technical stuff," he said. "There's not really any romantic or sexual content in the moment. It's just about having a laugh while you're doing it, and [Drew]'s good at having a laugh."
So there you have it -- my night on the red carpet. If only there was an after party…
