It may not have the sunny beaches of Maui or the crazy money of Laguna Beach, but Brooklyn, New York is the new place to be -- if you want to be on an MTV reality show. Yup, you heard right -- after being kicked out of Laguna and Maui, MTV is invading the hometown of Woody Allen, Corbin Bleu, Jay-Z, and Notorious B.I.G.!
Juniors and seniors from Brooklyn Tech High School have been asked to audition for the "newest soon-to-be hit show," Brooklyn. "This is a show about America's urban teenagers, the street savvy teenagers, the teenagers who have to grow up that much faster because if they don't, the city will eat them alive," the BTHS website says. "The premise is to paint an accurate picture for America of what life is like for the average Brooklyn high school student." An MTV reality being accurate? Ha!
While the website touts that "BTHS represents the many faces of teenagers in Brooklyn. Rich, poor, Asian, Black, White, Hispanic and everyone in between come here to learn," we have a sneaking suspicion that it will be the crazy rich, totally beeyatchy, or really gangsta kids who make the cut -- have they even seen how reality shows cast? Besides, who cares if the high school "offers the inspiration, education, values and glimmer of hope that all the other public schools are lacking" -- as long as we get some major catfights, boyfriend-stealing, and hot parties, does anything else matter?!
Casting begins soon, so better start begging your 'rents to move to BK now.
