Is homophobia a disease? Isaiah Washington seems to think so. The Grey's Anatomy star entered a "residential treatment facility" today as a result of controversy surrounding his anti-gay remarks on the Grey's set and at the Golden Globes, Life & Style Weekly reports. "ABC has told him he must enter a program to examine why he would say such hateful words," an insider says. While at the facility, he will undergo a psychological assessment.
Isaiah first stirred up trouble last fall when he used an anti-gay slur on-set, which pushed cast mate T.R. Knight out of the closet. The controversy was reawakened at the Golden Globes last week when Isaiah used the same slur while denying that he ever made the comment in the first place. (Way to prove your innocence, idiot.)
The following day, Isaiah issued an apology for his behavior at the Globes, stating, "I can neither defend nor explain my behavior. I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I've asked for help."
Yeah -- help to save his job, that is.
