Well, well, well -- look what we have here. After vehemently denying that he and Jessica Simpson weren't a couple, John Mayer was seen out on a date with the pop tart (who's one-year anniversary of her divorce announcement just passed this weekend). According to Perez Hilton and Us Weekly, the songbirds looked like lovebirds at various L.A. hangouts last week. "She didn't eat much," a spy tells Us Weekly. "She drank double vodka cranberries. When they got up, Jessica was rubbing his back. You could definitely tell they were on a date." Still, sources close to each of the singers say that they're taking the relationship slowly. "She's taking her time with it," one of Jessica's pals tells Us, while one of John's friends said, "It's a flirtation. I wouldn't call it full-on dating, but there is a fondness. He doesn't like the attention, but he likes her. He wants to avoid the public scrutiny of last time." While the holidays and work will keep the couple in far-off locations in coming weeks (Jess had Thanksgiving in Texas with her fam and will be filming Blonde Ambition in Louisiana, while John spent the holiday in Connecticut and then will head to New York for some songwriting), we're sure that this isn't the last we'll hear about this secret It Couple.
