Some of you weren't even alive when the Cold War was going on, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on the Cold War Kids! Through two years of frequent touring (and some kind words from blogger fans), the California-based band has taken the indie rock world by storm. Soon, they were playing sold-out shows across the country -- without even being signed or releasing an LP! But their dedicated work paid off when the band teamed up with Downtown Records, the same label as Gnarls Barkley, to release Robbers & Cowards. The bands' atmospheric tunes are based on human experiences -- events you see around you everyday but probably don't think about too much. You've only been together as a band for two years -- you've blown up pretty quickly! What do you attribute that to?
We've probably worked harder than the average person. Over the last year, we've pretty much toured nonstop without a label and without any money to do it -- just being resourceful. I think it's a rare thing that people have liked. We put out three six-song EPs, and I think people like the idea of having a CD, putting it out yourself, and touring it. From there, we got a lot of attention from different music reviewers. It's all been really helpful for us.
