Shiny Toy Guns on Shiny Toy Guns in Five Words or Less:

Something you can dream of.

Speaking of change, you guys have recorded three versions of your debut album, We Are Pilots, over the years. Why?
Jeremy: We started out by doing everything backwards, shooting toward the goal of getting to the label. We wrote music, pieced it to the best of our ability with our primitive $700 computer, and went out and borrowed a lot of horrific interest with credit cards and bought CDs. [Then, we] got a beat-up van and played shows. We played the songs live and got better as a band. We got better equipment and decided to go back and repeat -- upgrade the things we did -- added a couple of songs, took away songs, rerecorded the songs and made another couple of thousand CDs. Suddenly, all this happened, and we went to an actual studio in N.Y. [where] we finally recorded the album [with] the ideas we originally didn't have the resources [for].
Carah: It's like looking back at freshman year, and even though you were totally normal and cool and you were having a grand ol' time, you look back and you're like, "Ahh -- I was a dork!"
Jeremy: You grow up a little bit, and you're like, "Wow, I can't believe I was so excited about that!" It’s the same evolution.

You Say!
