The Summer Obsession may seem like a totally fun-loving band (heck, their name even makes us smile!), but beneath their shimmery sounds and energized harmonies lies pretty deep and downcast lyrics. (Case in point: First single, "Do You Remember," is about saving a girl from her abusive Dad, and "Death Said" portrays the Grim Reaper talking about death.) But that's just the point for this Jacksonville, Florida emo-pop band. "For me as a writer, that's how I release those really tough subjects. I talk about some crazy stuff that people deal with, but I enclose in happy music," says singer/pianist, Lucien Walker. "It makes it a release. That's the number one thing we're about -- it's OK to have extremes and be human." Check what else Lucien is about, from his own obsessions to the band's cosmic connection to Tom from MySpace.

You guys were pretty much the first band for MySpace. How did that come about?
When we joined MySpace, Tom popped up [because] he's your first friend. We were like, who's Tom? So when they advertised the first MySpace party ever (which was in Miami), we drove to Miami and ended up meeting Tom. We became pretty good friends with him. The whole MySpace team helped us out. They put us on the front page of MySpace for a while when it was blowing up, [and] that got us label attention.

What's Tom like in real life?
He's cool [and] chill. It's interesting because me and Fin are both Scorpios, and we were really interested in [astrology] at the time. Tom is a Scorpio, too. It was kind of funny.
