You always seem to have a heavy touring schedule. How often are you on the road?
We kind of roughly calculated with the help of booking agents over the years, and we've come to the conclusion that we played over 800 shows since we've been a band.
Man, that's a lot of time on the road. And speaking of touring, you guys dropped off Warped Tour early this year. Why?
That was actually right at the beginning of dealing with the lineup change with the band [when guitarist Dan Lowder left the band]. He said he was willing to stick with us until we found a replacement, but we [knew] October [would be] a very crucial time for us with the record coming out -- we needed to be as strong as possible, so we opted to start rehearsing with someone else to not have to cancel any of the fall tours. We kind of traded in. We missed 10 days of Warped, and now we don't have to miss any other dates. I know kids were upset about that, but the big picture was more important -- to be on tour where we were one of few bands versus 10 days on Warped where there's 75 bands playing everyday. The kids that were let down about that [could] still go there and enjoy other bands, and we'll be coming back to those cities in no time. So we really try to make it up to them, and hope they understood. We'd been trying so many years to get on the Warped Tour that it hurt us emotionally to not be there.
