From OTH to the Road

Hey Alloy!
My name is Kate Voegele, and I'm a singer/songwriter getting ready to release my brand new record, A Fine Mess. I've spent the last couple years on the road promoting my music and working as an actress on the TV show One Tree Hill playing my songs as the character Mia. I've had the time of my life traveling and meeting all kinds of new people and seeing some amazing places throughout the country! I wanted to give you guys an inside look at what's been going on with me over the last few weeks as I get ready to release my new album.

It has been a really exciting spring and there are so many fun things coming up. I spent the beginning of 2009 making A Fine Mess in LA with Mike Elizondo, an unbelievably talented producer/writer/musician. Working with him in the studio was amazing and he had an incredible sense of how to build these new songs up to their full potential. After wrapping up the record, I spent some time finishing shooting the 6th season of One Tree Hill with my friends in Wilmington, North Carolina. It was so exciting to be a part of another season of the show. The greatest part about it was that I got to play about seven songs from the new record on the show, meaning that fans will be able to hear them first on OTH before the record even comes out!

After wrapping season six, I headed back to Ohio to rehearse with my amazing band for the tour. We spent a few weeks going over songs and working out set lists for the live show. After rehearsal, I got to take a little family vacation and relax a bit before tour, which was awesome. I headed to LA after vacation and geared up to get back on the road. I also shot my music video for my first single, "99 Times." I had such an amazing time making the video, and everyone who worked on it did such an incredible job. Frank Borin directed it and was awesome to work with, and Derek Hough also made an appearance in the video, which was a lot of fun. I absolutely loved the wardrobe, hair, and makeup. I can't wait for you guys to see this video!

The day after the shoot, we left for the tour around 9 p.m. and headed to Salt Lake City for our first gig. Even though our bus broke down on the way, we managed to pile onto a new one and make it just in time for the show! Hopefully, our tour technical difficulties are now out of the way :). The Salt Lake show was awesome, and we played Denver last night, which was equally amazing. I'll keep updating you guys on my adventures from the road, so keep checking back and thanks for stopping by!!!

<3,
Kate
